Front Cover Final

I chose this font for my mast head because I thought it had a perfect rock vibe about it and the colouring has eye-catching appeal. I took the image of Nick Jonas and incorporated my own information to show that Rockstar has an exclusive inside story about him. I added a barcode to make my cover seem realistic.

Front cover

This is the front cover of my Tudor High magazine. I have added a footer with a caption to attract the audience's attention. It says 'The best GCSEs EVER.' I have also added information about what can be found inside the magazine. I chose white font colour as I thought it stands out on the red background. I added some extra detail to the mast head to make it look more professional.

To make my front cover look more realistic and professional i added a date, issue and price which I think made it look brilliant!

Contents

I posed Mia infront of the bookcase with my contents page in mind. I did this because I thought it would be perfect to have her posing with her arm showing the contents of the magazine.

When we were erasing the background of the original picture we used the eraser tool but found that using the lasso tool allowed us to erase larger sections. We chose the colour golden yellow to compliment the red shades that I have used previously and selected the gold from Mia's tie.

We used the same font for the heading on the front cover and the contents page to create house style throughout my work.

Evaluation question 7

Looking back on your preliminary task, what do you feel you learnt in the procession from it to the full product?

In the procession from the preliminary task to the full product, I feel that I have a better grip on what photoshop is and how to use it. I also feel that I have gained a greater experience with media as a whole as a result of both the preliminary task and the full product. I know that rather than just taking a picture it is vital to remember certain things to really capture the image. Things such as positioning, how close I stand, costume, props, staging and many other things play a huge role in getting a great shot.

Evaluation question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of construction this product?

I have learnt about photoshop and how to use it. I have learnt to blog about my progress in my media studies class. I understand that attention to detail really matters and making sure that there is uniform to my magazine that it will look professional and very appealing to my target audience.

Evaluation question 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

I will attract the audience to my magazine by putting advertising on television. The price is low in order for my audience to be able to afford it.

I use bright colouring for the main lettering and other information throughout the pages. I got my models to pose in a way to attract attention. I used 'catchy' words and phrases to attract attention such as EXCLUSIVE. I have tried to think what would get my attention and incorporate this into my work.

Evaluation question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience for my magazine will be college students who don't have a lot of money to get things with. I researched similar style magazines and there was many differences in price range. Opting for a more affordable price to would lead to bigger sales and subsequently greater profit and therefore, outdoing any rivals.

I have kept the costume my models worn on-trend so that it would appeal to my target audience and used bold fonts to capture the attention of the audience. Having slightly older models would also generate interest from a slightly older audience too which will lead to an increase in profit.

Evaluation question 3

What kind of media institutions might distribute your media product and why?

A newspaper stand may distribute my media product because it might attract more customers to the newspaper stand and therefore gains more cash for the business. Local supermarkets could regularly have the latest edition on the stands and copies at the cash registers as this is were people of all ages and backgrounds visit. My product could be available in the local corner shop and here people could set up a repeat order and have a copy delivered monthly.

'Rockstar' could have its own web page so that people could subscribed to a years subscription and have a copy delivered to their door on the day of it's release. This way people could get the latest news and offers instantly. Here, you could also pay for a downloaded copy of the latest edition and perhaps a App that could be purchased. This way people could have instant access at the touch of a button. Also 'Rockstar' could contact big companies such as Kerrang and get permission to advertise their product on their website with a link to Rockstar's web page.

Evaluation question 2

How does you media product represent particular social groups?

My media product represent social groups in a good light. It does this by getting the views of all social groups from the poor to the rich and successful people. By getting all the social groups' views on things the magazine isn't just for the rich but for people who have lower class backgrounds.

I have included a variety of age groups within my magazine so that it appeals to different aged social groups. Talking about Linkin Park and Nick Jonas will appeal to younger generations whereas having models as members of my feature band 'Forever Blue' who are slightly older, will also appeal to the more mature audience. This represents older women in positive light.

Evaluation question 1

  1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real products?

My media product uses forms and conventions of real media products by keeping the font the same for the main titles on every page. It also does this by using the stage as the setting for the photographs. It challenges forms and conventions of real media products by just having two women alone on the stage and it challenges stereotypes of women by ensuring that they look powerful and strong as oppose to helpless and weak that women are often seen as. It develops forms and conventions of real media products by the use of the setting i.e the stage.

Assessing my coursework

I would suggest that my coursework is on par with the Level 4 examples because I have produced material that is appropriate for my target audience and task. I have shown understanding of conventions of layout and page design by making sure that the image is a medium close up and is central and the main focus so it instantly captures the attention of the target audience. I have used a variety of fonts and text size to create an eye-catching design alongside accurately using language and register suitable to by age category. I used photoshop to design my magazine cover as I feel this offered me accurate attention to detail that I required and high quality imaging. I took many photographs and researched in depth to create my front cover and this allowed me to select the most suitable image possible for presentation and I could crop and resize it if necessary.

Although I rate my front cover as a Level 4 I know I have to finalise a few minor areas to achieve this level such as adding a barcode and more information about the contents of my rock magazine.

Pre-Lim Contents Page

I chose this image for my contents page because I thought the central light in the background would look good, as if it's shining down on the contents information.

Evaluating of marking campaign

Case Study: You are going to evaluate the marketing campaign of The Avengers.
What impact do you think the marketing of the film had on its success? Think of the impact on the audience?
How did the distributor use cross-media marketing to raise awareness of the film?

Are there any examples of synergy in this campaign?

I am going to evaluate the marketing campaign of The Avengers. Here we see Disney partnering up with a number of companies so that they can produce and distribute franchise in order to promote The Avengers and build up the hype. The adverts for The Avengers sees a group of young children dressing up as favourite Avengers character. This instantly appeals to children so they will beg their families to take them to see the film.

Marvel spend massive amounts of money on marketing campaigns such as Facebook Fans Page. This page has over one million followers and distributes news and promotions via this social media site.

These marketing campaigns had a huge impact on the films success. This was mainly due to the company having things in place such as five year marketing plan. During this time it brought all the main characters together making them a force to be reckoned with which Loki did.

Media homework 7/2/16

Kate Beckett is both a stereotype and a counter type of the ideal woman in media. She is a stereotype in that she is a damaged female police officer. Although she doesn't necessarily need a relationship to make her happy, she is married to Richard Castle, also she is beautiful in looks and intelligent. She is a counter type in the sense that she is both strong and independent. As a Captain in a male dominated profession, she is a role model for young girls to look up to.

Best selection of photographs for my DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD for my music magazine

I have selected these four photographs for my double page spread. The bottom two in particular were taken long distance so that my image would allow an area around it for information to be added to it within this space. They also allow me to create a header for my double page spread. The angle that I have took this image on, creates a dramatic, rockstar impact.
I wanted readers to instantly know they are still looking at a rock magazine and these photographs fulfil this criteria. My props and costumes are fully present within these shots and my mise en scene is fulfilled.

Best selection of photographs for my CONTENTS PAGE

I have selected these four photographs as they are powerful images and I have took the photograph off centre so that there is an area that my contents information can go in. The angle that I have took this image on, creates a dramatic, rockstar impact.

I wanted readers to see that I have continued my theme through to the contents page and still know they are looking at a rock magazine and these photographs fulfil this criteria.

Best selection for FRONT COVER of my magazine

I have selected these 3 photographs as it will allow me to create a header for my front cover. The angle that I have took this image on, creates a dramatic, rockstar impact.

I wanted readers to instantly know they are looking at a rock magazine and these photographs fulfil this criteria.

Frames

I used the frames to see where I would like my style models to be placed so I could get the very best photographs in the photoshoot.

Photographs

Here is a selection of the photographs that i took on 14th January 2016. I have selected the ones that i feel reflect my mise en scene most effectively.

Photoshoot

On Thursday the 14th January 2016, myself, Dave Heyes and my two style models all met at the hall as planned. I picked up my props and equipment and made sure the style models had required outfits ready. Dave assisted me with the camera and tripod. I used the A3 and A4 frames to guide me with my photo shoot. As I was setting up my shots I bared in mind front cover poses, contents page and double page spread. I took 110 photographs so that enabled me to have a choice of photos.

Mise en Scene - planning

I've booked the hall for the photo shoot. I'll set up at the end of period 5 with a camera and tripod with the assistance of Dave Hayes. I'll ask Mrs. Roberts to bring in a leather jacket and black jeans. I'll ask Dave Hayes to bring in a guitar. I'll ask Mrs. Roberts to bring in a microphone in order to make it seem realistic.
